James E. Duffy, Jr. is an associate justice of the Hawai`i Supreme Court. He was sworn in on June 27, 2003.
Justice Duffy is a graduate of the College of St. Thomas and Marquette University Law School, where he was a member of the Board of Editors of the Marquette Law Review. Justice Duffy was a founding member of the firm of Fujiyama, Duffy & Fujiyama, a practicing trial lawyer (representing both plaintiffs and defendants), mediator, arbitrator, and special master.
He is also a past president of the Hawai`i State Bar Association, and is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American Board of Trial Advocates, and the American Inn of Court.
Justice Duffy has been honored with Lifetime Achievement awards from the Hawai`i State Bar Association and the Consumer Lawyers of Hawai`i, and is also the recipient of the John S. Edmunds Award for Civility and Vigorous Advocacy.
His current term on the court runs from June 27, 2003 - June 26, 2013.
