Michael J. Wilkins is Associate Chief Justice of the Utah Supreme Court. He was appointed in 2000 after having previously served on the Utah Court of Appeals since August 1994.

Legal Education and Experience

Wilkins is a past presiding judge of the Utah Court of Appeals. He received his law degree from the University Of Utah College Of Law in 1977 and an advanced law degree (LL.M.) in 2001 from the University of Virginia School of Law. From 1977 to 1994, he was engaged in private law practice in Salt Lake City. Justice Wilkins has been a member of the Judicial Council and has served as chair of the Judicial Council's Policy and Planning Committee, Legislative Liaison Committee, and Standing Committee on Technology. He currently chairs the Supreme Court's Committee on Professionalism, and teaches as an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School.[1]
