The Rhode Island Judicial Nominating Commission oversees the nomination of all judges in Rhode Island.
Transparency Question
The Providence Journal have instigated an inquiry into the nomination committee's level of transparency to the public. The commission believes that letters of recommendation of judicial nominees are exempt from the Access to Public Records Act. The newspaper is looking for outside confirmation of that notion. [1]
