Ronald T.Y. Moon is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Hawai`i. He was sworn into this position on March 31, 1993, after having served as an associate justice on the state's highest court for three years. His current term on the court ends on March 30, 2013.
Chief Justice Moon is a 1965 graduate of the University of Iowa School of Law.
He served a one-year term as law clerk for then-Chief Judge Martin Pence at the United States District Court for the District of Hawai`i, and was subsequently employed with the prosecutor's office from 1966 to 1968. After four years as an associate, Chief Justice Moon became a partner in the law firm of Libkuman, Ventura, Moon, and Ayabe. He left private practice in 1982 upon his appointment to the Circuit Court bench.
Prior to his appointment to the Hawai`i Supreme Court, Chief Justice Moon was a Circuit Court judge for eight years.
